As children, we all had the experience of
falling and scraping our knees. Thankfully, there was usually someone around who would
"kiss it to make it all better". Unfortunately, as we get older, it is not all that
simple. Injuries to the skin continue to happen throughout life. They happen in all kinds
of ways - from accidents, surgery, disease and other causes. At The Medical Centers
Wound Management Center, state-of-the-art technology is used to treat these
wounds.
The Medical Center is the only hospital in
Southcentral Kentucky with two certified wound care nurses. This knowledge, along with
state-of-the-art equipment, enables us to bring healing to any kind of wound if at all
possible.
Treatment is provided for the following:
1. Diabetic foot ulcers
2. Pressure ulcers (bed and chair sores)
3. Non-healing surgical wounds
4. Burns
5. Traumatic tissue injury
6. Venous Stasis ulcers
7. Any chronic non-healing wound
Services provided at the Wound Management Center include:
1. Debridement (removal of dead tissue)
2. Specialized wound care (including growth factors and compression
therapy)
3. Skin grafts
4. Foot and nail care
5. Surgical wound closure
