Before, during, and after childbirth, you want the very best possible care for the baby and mother. The Medical Center's family-centered obstetrical services provide excellent medical care in a very comfortable environment.
The Medical Center's Obstetrical Services has four areas : Labor and Delivery, Nursery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Post Partum. Unlike other areas of the hospital, OB has two primary patients -- the mother and the baby.
The Medical Center has 11 labor, delivery and recovery rooms, as well as four triage rooms if outpatient testing is required during pregnancy. Once the baby is delivered, the mother is moved to one of 22 private rooms in Post Partum. Here, the nursing staff concentrates on teaching the mother how to take care of herself and the newborn. The staff encourages the father to spend the night with the mother.
The Nursery provides a caring, skilled staff who care for the baby when not in the room with the mother. For babies who need specialized care, The Medical Center has a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with Neonatology Services.
Tours of Obstetrical Services are available as part of the following OB classes: Ready, Set, Go!, Grandparents Class and A New Baby's Coming.
Unmarried parents can establish legal fatherhood for their baby. The Medical Center OB staff helps unmarried parents with completion of a paternity affidavit, a notarized legal document that allows the Office of Vital Statistics to add the father's name to the baby's birth certificate.
