Skin To Skin

The Medical Center promotes skin-to-skin contact to help you and your new baby start a healthy and happy life. Skin-to-skin, also called "Kangaroo Care," is the method where your naked baby is dried and placed directly on your chest immediately after birth. Babies given skin-to-skin care are more relaxed, less stressed and cry less. This first cuddling between you and your baby benefit both of you in different ways. It helps baby transition to life outside the womb. It keeps the baby warm. It enhances breastfeeding, brain development and bonding.
